Well here's a blog post that's been sitting in my “blogger-do” folder for a couple of weeks. Remember that Annual Christmas Coma Ride that we talked about last December? That's the bike ride that our old pal Michael Hughes helps put together to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). The event inspires some physical activity during a time when many people are feeling lazy, and it raises funds for an excellent cause.
The Challenged Athletes Foundation was established in 1997 with the goal of helping people with disabilities remain physically active. They operate several programs, such as funding the purchase specialized sports equipment, and helping individuals find the resources they need to rebuild after a life-changing injury. The Annual Christmas Coma Ride started raising funds for CAF three years ago. Participation has grown every year, and this time we had about 50 riders come out for the event.
These riders, along with some new event sponsors, raised about $20,000 for CAF. How's that for a bike ride?
The Annual Christmas Coma Ride takes place on December 26 each year. Participants can choose between a 50 or 100 mile route. If you'd like to participate in the next ride, keep an eye on our blog or watch the CAF website. They'll have the registration page on their site.
You can see more pictures and video of the event on the Facebook event page here.
That's it for the 2013 ride. We'd love to see you at the next one!
